The timing of the constant “no aid to Ukraine, we gotta take care of our own” and “no asylum to migrants, we gotta take care of our own” messages from the GOP is quite rich when we’ve been barraged with reports about how GOP governors are letting children go hungry this summer

When I learned that School Meal Debt exists I wanted it abolished. No child deserves to go in debt for food, a basic human need

I’d pay more in taxes to make sure NO ONE starved, had a roof over their head, had basic needs of life met. Sign me up today. It doesn’t have to be a kid, they don’t have to be a citizen of this country, they could be locked up in prison for life, they still deserve the minimum requirements of life met

I don’t have any kids and I would gladly pay more in taxes if it means they don’t have to go hungry. Free breakfast and lunch for public school children. I’d love to see a poll of people who would say “nope, let them starve.” I just don’t think it’s a losing issue even in deep red counties. But maybe I’m wrong and I’m underestimating the right’s penchant for misery

Sadly this is great for business and what they love most.

It’s so fucked up. Some schools have even refused to let third parties step in to pay off lunch debts for students. The cruelty is the point.

What did this children do for our country? They just get born and feel entitled for all kind of stuff without working for it! They are worse than immigrants, believe me. At least some immigrants speak English or at least Spanish from day one. Babies not so much
