Nah, it’s better than that.
Play it post combat and you kill any of oppo’s creatures that blocked.
Add on that it either wins the game or is a two for one if oppo answers it right away and this looks to be one of the bombiest of bombs in the set.
It will certainly slay many banes

As a commander there are a few dozen cards in black that give all creatures -2/-2 for the turn or something similar; turning all of those into 1 sided board wipes with this bird out.
I’ve always had a fondness for Night of Souls’ Betrayal.
A solid choice!
I’ve found Screams from Within does a situational similar thing without having people be prevented from wanting to fill the board.
We’ve come a long way since the beloved Spirit of the Night, this is 4 mana less and has some decent removal built into it. I think Maha is a lot better sadly.
