This is more about insurance than just capitalism.
Capitalism destroys art by making sure the proles cant afford anything but assembly-line art, as it concentrates wealth to the top.
Insurance companies are a blight for many reasons, but in this case its because they make “risk” the #1 factor for everything a company does. If movies are too risky profit-wise, they wont get favorable insurance policies for that film and therfore the studio would take on too much risk if they produced it.
So instead we get recycled garbage and 'Member Berries
As much as I struggle with Netflix, they are the ones who are really exploring creatively.
Yeah, nobody wants to invest on new IP when sequels/reboots are a safer bet
