Musk and his friends are planning right now , on how to handle the menace.

Out of ego or the Principe that 'you don’t treat with terrorist" they will never allow free healthcare (at least, as long trump is in power).

So what will they do?

Fly a plane into another tower? Found “evidence” that Luigi is a pedophile? distract us with a war with china? Enforce gun control? Ban gun 3d printing? Just enroll more bodyguards they will never trust?

At this point I just let my imagination run wild and look for worst case scenarios, then trim off only the most outlandish.

The first step is going to be encouraging and enabling “VIP Protection.” Restrictions on things like where you can carry a gun will be relaxed for people acting as security for “People at elevated risk,” which will mean “The rich.”

Next there will be new laws that increase the severity of punishments for actions against the rich. It’ll be similar to hate crime rules, escalating the punishments beyond just what was done.

There may also be changes in “Self Defense” cases loosening the requirements to justify lethal force if the one defending themselves is “Economically Maligned,” so basically if you’re rich you can kill someone in self defense just because they looked at you while poor. VIP protection details will be legally permitted to subdue and detain anyone they suspect of “ill will toward” their wealthy client, including everyone poor in and around whatever location the VIP wants to visit.

Finally Republicans will finally “compromise” on gun control by allowing new fees and taxes that are solely intended to move guns out of reach of the poor.

It will all be in the name of “fighting class warfare” and “protecting job creators from the radical left.”

At this point I feel like organizers need to consult with the French on how to throw a revolution.

They got a bad wrap (rap? I’m not sure, only heard it spoken) with WW2, but man… they could revolt.

Guillotines were unwieldy, near stationary equalizers. Imagine what the American people could do with plentiful arms and ammunition. I know, that AR15 isn’t gonna stop a tank, but a militant group of rednecks with access to basic chemistry supplies can be dangerous.

Sadly, the it seems the people who want to “fight tyranny” and buy all the guns and ammo en masse are also fascist bootlickers.

I lean left, hard. That being said, I remain very Pro 2A.

I haven’t been worried about the military with all the stochastic terrorism in the red states I’ve lived in, I’ve been worried about my neighbors. And I gotta tell ya, Cletus with his temu body armor and lack of fingers is a concern, but not so much as a military vehicle (or militarized police vehicle) worry me.

But honestly, if the military refuses to uphold their oath to protect the constitution against enemies foreign and (more importantly) domestic - well, we’re all fucked.

Uncle Sam does not fuck around when it comes to exterminating civilians, and pigs are just military wash outs who didn’t exceed the intelligence requirement.

I think the smart move, from Trump, would be to announce he supports public healthcare. That the American people have spoken and bla bla bla, he’s the voice of the people. He would immediately jump 15 points in popularity.

of course a lot of people would lose money and there’s an ingrained power structure that will fight that tooth and nail. but Trump has dismantled and taken over powerful existing power structures before (ie the GOP).

this would help him if he really does want to radically change the country into a psuedo-fascist oligarchy thing which seems to be Musk’s and Thiel’s goal

This is a good plan. I suspect, he would be afraid to lose some popularity from his base, by supporting healthcare. Like it happened when he got vaccinated during covid

Trump’s base is more nuanced, I think. If he starts the rhetoric bashing “big pharma” and “corrupt CEOs” then I think his base will fall in line.

That’s the thing with Trump. His policies don’t actually need to be logically coherent with traditional GOP values.

For example, GOP has historically championed low regulation, low taxes, and free market capitalism. This has been hammered home until it’s become almost an autonomic verbal tic or religious phrase (“inshallah” “god bless our troops”)

But then he comes and he loudly and repeatedly pushes for tariffs - instating large and broad taxes that restrict free market capitalism. And what happens? His base cheers him on for it.

Or for example GOP has historically been supportive of illegal immigrants. Look at Ronald Reagan, another quasi-religious symbol of the GOP. He gave amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. Legalized them and supported immigration. Why? Because it’s good for free market capitalism.

What about Trump? He goes the other way. Wants to restrict the import of labor as much as possible, hurting free market capitalism.

See what I mean? It doesn’t actually matter what his real policies are. That’s what I find fascinating about him. I think he has the power to take universal healthcare and actually implement it in this country if he wanted to. And that it would cement his legacy permanently.

Which to me, is something a megalomaniac would want

Funny you should ask. Realistically though they will try every tactic available to them, from trying to shape public opinion, to lobbying Congress to pass a new law providing taxpayer funded security for private corporations, and drafting legislation placing themselves as a protected class of people, so that actions against them can be charged as hate crimes or terrorism. Probably the latter, since under the Patriot Act they can then hold people indefinitely without charge or trial, and torture them.

They will tell anyone left of center that he’s a far-right nutjob, then simultaneously tell anyone right of center that he’s a radical marxist trying to bring down America, then people will fight each other.

I mean, that’s what I’d do if I was in charge of intelligence agencies.

Edit: As someone who leans left on the political spectrum, Idgaf even if he turned out to be right wing, the deed itself is good, and even if he was right wing, I still blame the media for those views that he has, he’s probably still a good person at heart.

There’s no need to indulge in conspiratorial thinking, here. Whatever you think of Mangione’s motives, it seems overwhelmingly likely that he did it and, if so, he will almost certainly be in jail for the rest of his life. There’s no need for them to do anything else to him. It seems as though he acted alone, so a broader anti-terrorist crackdown is possible but unlikely, and even less likely to be effective.

As for the CEOs, I imagine a lot more money is going to be spent on security and they’ll probably demand the businesses they work for pay for that, which actually seems fair, as far as it goes.

While I don’t have any sympathy for the Republicans, they didn’t seem to even consider more gun control even after Trump was actually hit by a would-be assassin’s bullet, so I doubt they will now. They might pass a law against 3D gun printing, but it’s not even slightly enforceable; I believe owning such a weapon is already illegal but, as Mangione has demonstrated, there’s not much to stop someone making or using one.

so a broader anti-terrorist crackdown is possible but unlikely

It is infuriating that everything is “terrorism” now, especially when combined with the unconstitutional patriot act. A single murder because of personal motivations is not terrorism.

Apologies, I thought this was a reference to conspiracies:

Fly a plane into another tower? Found “evidence” that Luigi is a pedophile? distract us with a war with china?

It seemed to suggest various ‘false flag’ type ideas, which are a hallmark of conspiracy theorising.

They don’t need to do anything.

No one is calling for a reform of private healthcare, they have lobbying capabilities that will make any legislation to curb them meaningless.

This is not an event that will spark much change if any change sadly.

Hell, maybe people will even start reading more! Like, stuff written by authors and shit. lol. Now, that’d be some crazy. lol. I wonder if Musk “and his friends” could ever pull that one off - getting Americans to read/learn - even with their infinite money hacks

One of the outcomes from Russia’s war on Ukraine is the knowledge of how to build killer FPV drones.

The rest is covered in the short film “Slaughterbots”.

No, I don’t know how anyone will counter that future.

There was a book called The Ministry for the Future in which eco-terrorists used these drones to enforce fuel efficiency standards on shipping freighters.

It’s a very interesting book about taking the world back from billionaires who would ruin it to enrich themselves.

On the other part, I can agree with you: it could all fizzle up, out of distraction, soon

Your question isn’t framed neutrally at all

How the elite will try to “solve” the ceo assassination?

The question itself is assuming the elite class is losing sleep over this and desperately trying to do something about it. Right off the bat I don’t think it’s asked in good faith.

Musk and his friends are planning right now , on how to handle the menace.

This is an assumption and is trying to get a specific response from Lemmy users.

Fly a plane into another tower?

Seems to be their M.O. After already putting him in life in prison, first, of course. The CSAM planting stuff is just to run his name through the mud and make sure no one ever speaks positively about him again
