A few days ago I posted a painting by another German artist and one of the comments pointed out that he’d been a little too friendly with the Nazi regime.

This isn’t an accusation that can be made of this artist. Emmy Klinker. stuck to her principles and paid a heavy price for it.

She was branded a ‘Degenerate Artist’ in 1938, which left her effectively unable the pursue her art career. Later, she survived five months in Dachau concentration camp having been sent there in 1944 for attempting to hide Jewish friends from the authorities.
