TLDR: why isn’t there a ‘normal size dick’ in professional porn?

So one day I was watching a porn, it was a VR one. And it was pretty good, the lady did amazing job. But there was this one thing - the guy’s dick was massive! Especially in thickness. Maybe it was because of VR but it looked at times like it’s a size of a forearm, I’d swear I saw the lady having a problem putting the tip in her mouth. Like it was to the point where it felt … weird, like in an uncanny valley situation where it puts you out of the scene.

I was thinking about it the next day - and I realized, that I’d be actually more immersed into the scene if the guy would have the size similar to my dick. Especially in VR where you kind of put yourself into the position of a guy. And then I was thinking - Why is it there at all? Who’s asking for those massive sizes? Men? Women? General public? Production companies?

Then I asked myself - are there porn videos with normal dick size? And yes, there are … few of them. They’re either very amateurish or in humiliation category. Isn’t there a category/tag on porn sites for “normal size dick”? Well depends, pornhub doesn’t have it, xvideos does but they have everything. But again, videos are very amateurish or humiliation.

So am I in minority here? Does general public actually want these massive dick sizes? Because it kind of ruined my porn watching experience, I started noticing this everywhere.

Disclaimer: I’m not some puritan, I’ve seen some shit in my life. And sure, there is a place for over the top categories like bad dragon but those are mostly on the edge, not something for general public. Maybe I’m just getting old …

    My followup was whether there isn’t a gap in the market them. Like if there are more people like me, I’m sure some company would want to coining it. But then I thought, maybe it’s one of those things that sound good in theory, but when you see it, it feels off. Something like that scene from Simpsons about cows in movies. The result would probably look more boring/bland

      Oh, there’s definitely a market for it that’s underserved. You aren’t the first person to say this kind of thing at all. I’ve had partners in the past that used porn, and most of them wished that it was closer to normative ranges of bodies in multiple ways, with penis size and the high degree plastic surgery being the two most complained about. And I’ve known guys that are comfortable enough in their bodies to express a desire for the male performers to better reflect them.

      One specific paraphrase was that it was difficult to masturbate to porn when you never see anyone that looks like you because it gates makes it harder to imagine being in the actor’s place.

      Back when I still used porn, I can remember watching some of the less cock focused stuff and enjoying it more because I’m hetero, and all of the giant cocks end up making a lot of scenes focused on that. When the performers are closer to average, the scenes tend to be more about the sex itself, and the female performers than showing off a big dick.

      I don’t have any problems with penises at all, I even enjoy seeing them in a way akin to seeing a nice statue, or watching athletes do their thing, in a non porn setting like art photography. I used to be a nurse’s assistant, so penises were pretty much a daily sight for a long time lol.
