The original comment said they haven’t paid attention to the news at all these last few weeks, not that they “haven’t been following every piece of news”. Categorically, not paying attention at all, paying attention to literally every piece of news, and trying to be vigilant and find the relevant news are three completely separate things, and you brought up one that nobody was doing or suggesting.
