“It was at that moment immediately after jumping from the bridge that I realised that all of the problems in my life that seemed so severe and so unsolvable were actually not so, apart from the fact that I had just jumped off of a bridge.”
I don’t remember where this quote is from, or if its fact or fiction.
It was said by someone who survived jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge.
I think it was in the documentary “The Bridge.”
Yep and completely negating that are the examples of people who lived, climbed back up and did it again. That’s why I don’t like this quote and that guy.
With you there. The fact that he’d tell his story when it isn’t universally applicable to everyone is frankly ridiculous, and it is very rude of him to have personal experiences that don’t fit into your world view
Thought you were being serious for a second.
The dude is lying by omission. He is aware of these counterexamples and essentially implies everyone who has jumped feels that.
The person being rude about a personal experience that doesn’t fit others’ worldviews is him.
Kind of odd to actively dislike them, the reality is everyone feels a bit different, one person’s story doesn’t invalidate others and vice versa.
If it helps keep some people around longer that’s not so bad right?
“The view from halfway down.”
