He’s the leading republican nominee. His supporters will see him being jailed as confirmation of everything he’s already saying ‘they all hate Trump’, ‘they’re trying to stop Trump being president’.
He understands exactly what motivates his supporters and him being perfectly happy to go to jail for contempt should tell you everything you need to know.
