The point is to aim for equality not aim for superiority (some getting extra help others getting none) because of the past because you will overshoot and it’ll just be a pendulum going back and forth and each time somebody is worse off than the other because of their race. I agree that systems of aid should be income-based and not race-based, but the idea that we will somehow overshoot and end up in a society controlled by nonwhite people is pretty reactionary.
