Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday there would be no peace in Ukraine until the Kremlin realizes its goals, which remain unchanged after nearly two years of fighting that has sent tensions soaring between Moscow and the West.

Speaking at a year-end news conference that offered him an opportunity to reinforce his grip on power, Putin gave some rare details on what Moscow calls its “special military operation.”

He dismissed the need for a second wave of mobilization of reservists to fight in Ukraine — a move that has been deeply unpopular. He said there are some 617,000 Russian soldiers there, including around 244,000 troops who were called up to fight alongside professional military forces.

“There will be peace when we will achieve our goals,” Putin said, repeating a frequent Kremlin line. “Victory will be ours.”

It’s very enlightening to see how many similarities there are between Russia’s goals and Israel’s. Yet we have Russia condemning Israel’s invasion of Gaza and Ukraine supporting it.

      I suppose it’s all geopolitics.

Russia is allied with Iran, which means they have to support their ally Hamas.

Ukraine is dependent on Israel’s closest ally - the US - for their weapons, so they won’t condemn it either.

I doubt either of them really do this out of conviction.

That is because Ukraine needs America’s support and Isreal owns a majority if american politicians. Russia does not care about Isreal and Gaza as much as they want to be againest US interest.

Its not so much Israel owning the majority of American politicians as it is the pro-Israel lobby. This might seem like semantics at first, but it’s not. A huge portion of the pro-Israel lobby is fundamentalist Christians who care about Israel not for the sake of Israel or the Jews, but because they think its existence is important for the biblical end times to come about.

Yep. It’s the same people who are trying to breed a perfectly red cow to be sacrificed and bring about Armageddon

Ukraine was put in a situation where they need to fellate the US and allies to survive, it didn’t surprise me they’re doing whatever the US wants even if it’s hypocritical

Ukraine is falling in line with west, not sure of Zelensky’s actually view but him being against Israel would strengthen Russia’s argument that the regime is Nazi.

Russia wants Israel’s genocide of Palestine because it takes the focus off them.

Geopolitical interests is the keyword you’re looking for.

Many of so called “developed nations” care more about their interests rather than human rights.

Many nations in general, not just developed or developing.

          Correct.

I did mention developed countries since they’re utilizing human rights to push their agenda once they align together.

Developing countries do the same but they have little to non existent influence over other countries / nations.
