Is there anything wrong with not doing something harmless because it makes you feel uncomfortable with your gender. Sure the meme is depicting a piece of shit but why make fun of them for doing something that should be okay. I don’t really like having facial hair and I don’t really have a good explanation for why other than it makes me feel uncomfortable with my social presentation. If this person doesn’t want to eat pink icecream for the same reason, whatever I respect, understand and somewhat relate with that person. Why make fun of this caricature for that specifically when there is some actual reasonable things you could be calling out.
I think what the meme refers to is that people are made uncomfortable because of peer pressure. In this case they would secretly like the ice cream but wouldn’t eat it because they’re insecure about how they’d be perceived by others.
That’s a very different thing to feeling uncomfortable with oneself.
Peer pressure is exactly what is establishing prejudice.
No I disagree. Someone feeling uncomfortable because of how they believe they are perceived by others is an entirely valid reason for liking or disliking something. (Or doing or not doing something)
Peer pressure isn’t inherently prejudiced .I’d argue it entirely depends on the context. Most people will only seriously think about changing their beliefs when they realise that the beliefs they have are not held by the people around them. Whether the peer pressure makes an individual more or less prejudiced is entirely dependent on what the values of the group are compared to the values of the person.
My opinion is that peer pressure is not establishing prejudice, but can help to sustain it just as it can help to erode it.
I stand by my original point that we shouldn’t judge people for liking or disliking something based on how that person perceives themselves and their gender, regardless of if that person happens to be a piece of shit. Double standards are not okay in this household.

Fair enough! Good point. I agree now.
