Don’t studios also retain their copyright or are they less likely to try DMCA takedowns?

I guess if a creator wanted their content removed they’d PM a mod or report posts - and that would serve as a way to handle DMCA claims. If we aren’t allowed to post copyright stuff then only OC would be allowed and there aren’t many active creators on lemmy yet!

Sorry, I did not reply to this in more detail earlier.

Yes, studios do retain all copyright. But most studios also know that single images shared here and there (rather than entire imagesets or large galleries) are good for their own business/promotion. For example: I mod [email protected] as well as r/FTVGirls, and they are generally fine with folks sharing their content as long as proper attribution is made (such as model name and leaving studio logos intact and not cropped out).

Some studios are/have gotten very aggressive recently - see this https://www.reddit.com/r/BrandiLove/comments/xhhnir/rbrandilove_is_back_please_read_this_to_know_what/, whereas over my 5+ years modding on Reddit, I know many studios have never filed DMCA claims for single image posts…

For content from OC (amateur and/or sellers), for me it’s mostly a courtesy aspect - most OC posters on Reddit for instance don’t know anything about LemmyNSFW and don’t have a presence here.

I suggest we take this up at the mod intro post I put up (for lack of a better place for the time being, and for visibility by others). Please join [email protected] , as well as catch up on lots of things going on at [email protected] and [email protected] .

The quick answer to your first questions is yes and yes.
