The pillow trick is an interesting practice implement - I’ll be sure to remember that. My current partner has a very low pain threshold and we play on the milder side so for the most part a cane is out of the question, I know her limits. It’s always nice to be learning though and thank you for sharing.

No need to explore the cane if you don’t want. But three things I like about the cane:

      1. They’re cheap. Just a few tens of bucks for a simple rattan cane.

      2. It’s quiet. If you’re in a flat - and I am - other implements can be much too loud when striking. I mean, you make yourselves known to the neighbors. Lol

      3. When trained, it has a wide range from soft to very harsh. Just lite taps can be used effectively for warmup. Or to gently turn a bottom pink like a mild spanking. Other implements require much more force just to use, consider a whip for example. Or a strap or belt, which needs a some force in its swing to be at all effective.

None of this is to convince you on the cane. But I did want to counter the idea It’s only used for harsh swats. Well trained and you could lightly tap a grapefruit and still eat it. (Which I was trained to do! Lol)

1.) Cheap is always nice so maybe I’ll look into at least keeping a decent one around just in case.

2.) I have to hear my downstairs neighbors huskys bark all day. They can withstand hearing some punishment as repentance 😈

3.) Usually I’d beat around the bush a bit more, but I’m dealing with a bonafide OCD disorder. I have some sway in exerting control, but pushing limits is not something that I can comfortably do for the most part.

I’m the type of person that loves to explore, but my current situation doesn’t allow for this type of play unfortunately.

Again, not saying any of this to convince you. Each person has their own circumstances and their own interests. Fair enough. Good luck and I wish you and your partner much happiness.

I know, but I still appreciate well intentioned advice! Thank you!
