It’s something that has existed for decades, possibly close to a century now? It typically includes two small plates, two white mouth wine glasses, two spoons, forks and knives, space for a wine bottle with a way to keep it chilled, food and usually some space for napkins and such.
Just checked and Amazon does indeed sell them, some are pretty fancy haha.
How are baguettes “picnicking essentials” in the US? I have literally never seen one at a picnic.
