Lead exposure has a tiny threshold to cause mental impairment. And back then everyone was getting dosed. I mean, we still are. Just not as much. Which is another reason it’s crazy we’re still letting the most lead exposed generation run shit in their 80s. The effects of aging and lead exposure cause similar effects that stack with each other.
