This is hateful for no reason. It’s ok to dislike the way someone dresses without disparaging them. These guys are comfortable with their bodies and while I personally don’t care for this style they pull it off with confidence at least. Don’t be angry at other people because you’re too doughy for tight clothing.
Jokes play on pre-existing expectations. Why is this funny? You don’t see these kinds of jokes every time a woman wears tight clothing, which is often.
I mean if you want to read into it like that the original post implies if you aren’t dressed like this you’re a slob. Seems hateful don’t you think? Or, it’s just a joke.
Edit: I’ve seen memes about women’s clothing being so tight it is hard to put on/barely fits. Still funny.
I guess, but not dressing well doesn’t play into pre-existing sexist/homophobic narratives. I’m more okay with someone having a stigma against someone not dressing well, than I am okay with someone having a stigma based on gender or sexuality. Of course there are issues with the former too, like someone could be sloppily dressed because they don’t have time or money to invest in and maintain a good wardrobe, they could just be living a simple lifestyle and don’t like it, like it’s not great … but not as bad imho. And tbh the first post wasn’t really a joke, it was an attempted motivational thing.
And, I would say the jokes about tight women’s clothing are not applied in the same way. There are form-fitting outfits that women wear daily, that go uncommented on.
I’ve been the butt of many a joke. Some even especially mean and personal. I also do the same to my own friends. This is something one of us would say to eachother and not expect to be especially painful. I don’t know, maybe I am just not too sensitive and don’t hang with a sensitive crowd but I feel like we tend to be emotionally supportive and apologetic if things go too far as well. Idk but this is pretty fucking tame as a meme.
I agree with the downvoted commenter, this isn’t much different that those who make fun of people for baggy clothes. These guys obviously have a curated fashion sense that does not align with your own. There is nothing wrong with what they are wearing. Women wear tight clothing all the time but you don’t see “lighthearted jokes” about their clothes being too tight because of the dryer. The implication is that these clothes are too tight for men to wear, which is judgey and weird, and ties into sexist and homophobic ideas about what men should wear.
“It’s just a joke” is the worst way to respond to this kind of criticism. This joke was funny because it drew upon your pre-existing ideas about how men should dress. And you won’t even bother to imagine that the basis for your joke might be even a tiny bit harmful.
Also, ironic that in a community for streetware fashion, a movement that celebrates fashion risks, people are just hating on these honestly not-that-far-out-there outfits. I looked through the top posts and most are memes making fun of fashion and with very few inspo or discussion posts. Shitty community, it’s /r/cringe for clothing.
I don’t think it’s fair to publicly show off and simultaneously lightly insult other people (the original post, unless it’s ironic and I’m missing the joke, is trying to make such a point) but then not expect any sort of a response. These aren’t people just minding their business. These appear to be extremely over confident people who crave public attention, and they (or their friends) are willing to put others down in the process.

You see hate, I see a lighthearted joke.
It’s no wonder the world is so on edge. We have lost all social lubricant by putting discourse online instead of interacting in person.
I’m sure you would feel the same if it were at your expense.
It’s a joke about dryers shrinking clothes. What are you on about? Unless… Your clothes shrunk too??
What’s wrong with tight clothing? You see clothes just as tight on women every day.
Nothing… It’s a joke

Be honest, are you one of the guys in the picture?

This one is a blast at parties.

I don’t think they need to be defended.
