I doubt he believes in most of the shit he spews, he just wants the power and publicity of the position, also to be able to get him out of his own troubles. We know he isn’t religious, he is likely pro choice, and he was for drag shows, escorts. He just does what will get/keep him in power without having the ability to understand anything like empathy.

Imagine someone telling you that the mother of your kids can get you a tax break and thinking “let’s use that, oh and maybe don’t take care of that part of the golf course” when clearly the landscapers are already being paid to care for the entire course, and you now have more money to pay for it. I can only think it was vindictiveness.
