The former president effectively ā€œbirthedā€ the project. Now that itā€™s a political liability, one of Trumpā€™s foot soldiers is out of a job

As he enteredĀ the final stretch of theĀ 2024 presidential race,Ā Donald Trump spent much of this month trying to disown the highly Trumpy,Ā Heritage Foundation-ledĀ Project 2025Ā ā€” to the point that he even got his fansĀ to booĀ the initiative during a recent campaign rally. His protracted freakout over the conservative project ā€” to which he has multiple direct ties, and which is only as extreme as it is largelyĀ becauseĀ of his influence ā€” is driven almost entirely by Trumpā€™s fear over one thing.

When the twice-impeached ex-president and convicted felon took to social media in early July to make the (patently absurd) claim that ā€œI know nothing aboutĀ Project 2025, [and] I have no idea who is behind it,ā€ he added, ā€œI disagree with some of the things theyā€™re saying, and some of the things theyā€™re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal.ā€ He did not specify what ā€œthingsā€ he meant.

He can say whatever he wants because the non-maga republicans will say ā€œoh he doesnā€™t like it, he changed his mindā€ and single issue vote republican. If he wins and gets to office and puts all those things into effect he lied and said he didnā€™t like, jokes on them.

Maga chuds just like whatever he likes. If they love it and he says he doesnā€™t, no worries because theyā€™ll flip at the drop of a hat. If he gets to office and acts on implementing it no worries either because theyā€™ll flip again and make up some bullshit about how they knew from the get-go because itā€™s ā€œpart of the planā€
