In my experience with family members suffering from Dementia…the ability to read emotions often suffers dramatically in the onset and intermediate stages. Paranoia and anger generally follow (partially due to confusion of being unable to “read the room”) as the decline progresses. Stressful events and loss seem to aggravate and accelerate the decline.
