That’s for ultra which requires server costs. Ad free lifetime price is more reasonable (in some countries).
Server costs are nothing compared to what a lot of Lemmy instance admins are covering right now. The new price feels like robbery, as someone who got sync the first year it came out.
I would definitely contribute to my instance first but that’s still not an available option on my preferred one
