They’re a US “comfort food” type restaurant - meatloaf, steaks, etc. Their aesthetic likes to hearken back to an old restaurant in the 1800s, all barn-wood panels and such. Unfortunately, they’ve also proven pretty discriminatory in their practices - in addition to the segregation lawsuit another commenter brought up, they had to be sued to rescind a policy disallowing LGBTQ+ workers in 1991, and there was a pretty notorious incident in 2018 where a Black bus driver got thrown out for simply ordering food at a Cracker Barrel (the staff there referred to Black people by the code phrase “Canadians”). They’re also still the subject of a class-action suit for violating the Fair Labor Standards Act (in 2021), and they also keep getting embroiled in sexual harassment suits.

They have also been the regular source of eye-rolling for anyone who can actually cook in the South when your relatives go let’s go to Cracker Barrel! For the thousandth time that year and you have to put your foot down about how they should have more respect for themselves and southern cuisine and how literally any small diner in town fucks CB up and down on price and quality.
