They might not have been text book socialist but if you were of “proper stock” you definitely benefited from some socialists policies.
Thinking kinda like white USian people prior to civil rights movement… must have been nice getting all that subsidized housing and infrastructure to build your suburban WHITE utopia!
They claimed to be socialists because that was in vogue at the time, and there were some actual (confused) socialists among their ranks…until the night of the long knives.
