Because Nick is still holding out for Superman. Also, I don’t think he has that certain kind of hyperactivity needed, at least not anymore. His kind of broken mind acting is more Lovecraftian protagonist (who, granted, also might end up in Arkham Asylum).
The Death of “Superman Lives”: What Happened? makes me feel that we had him already as Superman.
The documentary is maybe even better, than if we would have really got the movie.
I also think it would be a little too late now. He was in the perfect age range back then.
