Summary

Canadian lawmaker Charlie Angus criticized Donald Trump’s recent tariff threats and attacks on Canada, calling his behavior “juvenile” and “idiotic.”

Trump has proposed a 25% tariff on Canadian and Mexican goods, blaming both countries for issues like migration and fentanyl.

Ontario officials warned of potential retaliation, such as barring U.S. alcohol purchases or restricting electricity exports.

Trump’s remarks, including mocking Prime Minister Trudeau as “governor” of Canada, have escalated tensions ahead of trade negotiations.

Yeah, no shit. At least someone is stating the obvious rather than being too afraid of the dipshit to say anything to begin with.

He IS a member of government even being a back bencher. He votes on legislation and is a member of parliament.

Or are you low on oxygen?

As a member of the House of Commons, Angus is roughly equivalent to a US Congressman. He IS a member of Government, and DOES play a role in lawmaking.

His party only has 25 seats, so they can’t actually DO anything on their own, they need backing from one of the majority parties.

        Liberal (153)
        Conservative (119)
        Bloc Québécois (33)
        New Democratic (25)

I think you may be confusing him for a member of a smaller party with no official status:

        Green (2)
        Independent (4)

You’re doubling down on your misinformation which now gets you removed.

Please educate yourself on the nature of a “Parliamentary Government” before continuing to state that a member of parlaiment is not a member of government.

Canada - Leader of the political party that has the support of a majority in the House of Commons of Canada is appointed Prime Minister of Canada by the Governor General of Canada, who then appoints the Cabinet of Canada on the advice of the Prime Minister

                  Respectfully, please educate yourself first.

                  https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_of_Canada

The Government of Canada (French: Gouvernement du Canada) is the body responsible for the federal administration of Canada. The term Government of Canada refers specifically to the executive, which includes ministers of the Crown (together in the Cabinet) and the federal civil service (whom the Cabinet direct); it is alternatively known as His Majesty’s Government (French: Gouvernement de Sa Majesté) and is corporately branded as the Government of Canada.[1][2] There are over 100 departments and agencies, as well as over 300,000 persons employed in the Government of Canada. These institutions carry out the programs and enforce the laws established by the Parliament of Canada.

Emphasis mine. In the Canadian political system only members of the executive are part of the national government. Non-government MPs are only part of the legislature, which is not the same thing.

                  https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabinet_of_Canada

The Cabinet of Canada (French: Cabinet du Canada) is a body of ministers of the Crown that, along with the Canadian monarch, and within the tenets of the Westminster system, forms the government of Canada.

Jordanlund thinks that being a mod means that he, as a rightwing Portlander, knows more about Canada’s political system then a Canadian.

When called out with appropriate documentation after removing correct comments about Canada’s political system proceeds to ignore the comment for 18 hours at the time of this post.

I’m an admin for a different, non Lemmy platform, for about 3000 daily active users. I’d be embarrassed to have Jordanlund as a mod.
