Hopefully some day I can vote for a political party that respects my bodily autonomy to put the drugs I want into my own body.

Some day…

All y’all getting preachy about “don’t”, think about how our society treats alcohol and then tell me how drugs are different enough to be “bad” when alcohol is legal and widespread. Everyone should be free to choose their intoxicants for themselves.

Yeah, drugs fall along a spectrum and each individual should be the ultimate arbiter of the risks vs rewards for themselves

If every employer drug testing for thc were forced to also test for off-duty alcohol use and fire anyone who drank alcohol in the last 6+ months, everything would fall to chaos and anarchy extremely quickly.

Then it would still be like “damn, no one wants to work these days for some deep mysterious unknown reason. If only there was anything we could do to make people want to work here”

    My heart wins every day.

Be great if it was legal, monitored, and regulated; there’s a lot of stuff I’d like to try with medical supervision which I won’t touch without that buffer. I know both myself and other people, and I trust neither without supervision.

I dunno how so many people are just more or less fine with raw dogging life. I need something to take the edge off a lot of the time.

Substance use =/= substance abuse. Just because you use them doesn’t mean you abuse them. Don’t let yourself become a slave to a substance and you will be fine.

Goes for a lot of life but, alas, easier said than done.

No, not easier said than done. If you can’t handle something without freaking out or getting addicted, then don’t do it, but if you can take some acid without freaking the fuck out, what is wrong with that? Point to me someone who can’t stop taking something like cannabis, psychedelics, salvia, just to name a few non addictive substances.

Are you joking? Yes I’ve a couple of friends though obviously I can’t point them out to you, and thankfully they’ve both quit - though it was quite the process to get there.

I’m not sure if you’re really trying to say cannabis isn’t addictive? Honestly that sounds like downright denial to me, but perhaps someone here with more experience would like to write a good answer.

And “not easier said than done”… C’mon, that’s exactly the thing with addictive drugs, and other things like eating disorders, bad habits, traumatic response… Sure, some things affect some people more than others. Chocolate might ruin one person’s life, and heroin barely touch another. But either you can want to stop, then find it’s hard - even beyond your willpower - to do so. That’s how life is, and psychoactive drugs are particularly prone to that.

No, I am not joking, and I am sorry to hear that you have had friends go through that process. Addiction is nothing to joke about and it is a very real problem that can only be solved through education and treatment.

Cannabis is socially addictive at best. I used to smoke myself as I am sure we all have, it is not a substance that you have a legitimate withdrawl from save for maybe being crankier than usual. Once you’re past that, you’re done.

You have a very valid point, and I cannot really argue with that because we agree for the most part. Drafting this ftm because it is late, I’ll finish later.

I always thought it was my head craving the drugs. Now I know who to blame. Someone get me all the hard drugs. My heart is sad about the state of the world.

You’re not wrong, but that has nothing to do with recreational drug use. I didn’t start drinking alcohol till after the ambition was out of me
