But u/spez pulled a Kevin Rose and ruined it
@HangoverTuesday A good chance to reset and grow in another direction.
Maybe, I just don’t see a federated social media platform being adopted by the average user. Seems to be far too confusing.
Email is a federated platform and everybody uses it, give it time
The web is a federated platform and everybody uses it…
I’ve posted in another community today that, if you’re into virtual worlds, the fediverse is like Opensim’s hypergrid compared to Reddit et al., which are like Second Life’s monolithic central server. Or like email (federated) compared to an internal chat server (monolithic).
The entire social media sphere used to be like this. Give it time. People will remember or learn how to do this again.
Totally agree! What’s old is new again :D
Heyy I saw your post mind helping me a bit like what should I do
@HangoverTuesday I’ve been here long enough to see the waves making the jump over from Twitter. It seems to me that the slightly higher barrier to entry is leading to better quality content.
I would agree, but you probably end up with a more engaged user base.
Plus with numbers it will only become more user friendly
All this has happened before. All this will happen again.
