    Beautiful piece. They were looking for bombers I presume? What would they do if they saw one? Could hitting the planes with the spots help distract the pilots perhaps?

      WWI didn’t really have bombers? At least not fly-over-the-channel-worthy ones? Or am I so bad at remembering my aeronautics history?

        It did, a quick search turns up a dedicated bombing campaign using zepplins. Who would have thought!
