Asking this question because I looked on the site itself, and while it lists some of the cores, others that I’ve read about that supposedly work just fine aren’t listed. Namely the CPS1, CPS2, and CPS3 boards. I’ve heard the last one is a relatively recent development.
Where I’m confused is where the ceiling for the FPGA lies in terms of emulation performance.
From what I understand, everything up to the fifth generation of consoles will be possible to emulate, with a big giant “MAYBE” on the Dreamcast.
Also, some arcade games are emulated, while others aren’t. Things like the klassic Mortal Kombats, and just a lot of Midway’s arcade games in general, both Killer Instincts, Primal Rage, Primal Rage 2, etc… Are these games harder, if not impossible to pull off, or are things just too early for them to be ready for prime time?
I’m mostly coming at this from someone who’s used software emulation his whole life, so IDK what’s reasonable or what all is possible. I’m mostly looking to put this PVM I got to good use, and would like to be able to do more with less if possible.
How far along are the more recent cores, such as N64 and Saturn, especially the latter? Is full speed and “accurate” Saturn emulation possible on the MiSTeR, and how close is it to reaching that on a practical level?
