So far these communities have been great, and have needed absolutely no moderation action, but I’m not always available to make sure that this is the case. Please leave a comment here outlining your strengths and weaknesses as a moderator and why you think you’d be a good fit for this community.

It may take me a while to respond.

    TPE as a concept

TPE as a concept is one of the most interesting power imbalance concepts for me with diffrent reasons. One of the biggest adventages for me is the fact, that it etablishs the power imbalance in the everyday life and not only in sessions or in sexual situations. Since 2008 I deal with #BDSM and the top/bottom concept. Over the years, I got to know myself better and find more ways to express what I specially like and ways I want to live it.

One of the important aspects for me is, that TPE is not a game, but a attitude of life. Taking responsibility and establishing clear and understandable communication that is based on the previous experiences of the bottom are important key factors in achieving a successful power imbalance that is desired by both sides.

    moderation

Basically, I’m excited to see how the new lemmy instance develops. The last few days have shown that there is a lot of movement in the matter, especially at the beginning. Something perfectly normal. That’s why I find the search for a moderator at this point in time a sensible one. Everything is still relatively new and it’s time to take precautions to ensure that each community will still function properly as users and contributions scale.

The switch from #reddit to #lemmy was a logical step for me. I’ve never been very active on the big social media, but when Mastodon was founded I quickly became curious. The approach of distributed responsibility, a group concept within a large social media concept and the opportunity to get to know people with common interests in a very targeted manner motivated me. I now have more than one Mastodon account (because I separate #nsfw content), and have done very well with it. Since lemmynsfw was founded, I have had the same opportunity in the Lemmy concept, which I am very happy about.

    deal with the content

The topic of TPE is predestined for different opinions and an exciting exchange, because everyone lives it out a little differently. Basically fine, as long as there is agreement and a common will on both sides. Dealing with the future content here will be an exciting challenge. I think it’s important to have a healthy compass on how you want to interact with content. At this point I refer to yesterday’s post on the subject of content bans. jump to comment

    transparency and role model function

In addition, I think it is important to be authentic as a user (and of course as a moderator). The Internet, including anonymity, invites you to put on several faces. I think it is all the more important not to do that in such an open community as here. The moral code and the mindset should remain authentic so that others can orientate themselves on it. In addition, decisions and communication should be understandable and transparent. The lemmynsfw admins are a wonderful example of this kind of transparency and how to deal with a growing community, which I’m very happy about.

At this point it has to be said that nobody is perfect. No matter what role he takes, there is always a chance that other users may have different opinions. possibly moderators or admins make a mistake. Anyone who takes responsibility is in a decision-making role. Always making the best decision for everyone is not easy. Errors can occur. It is therefore essential for me that there is a culture of error and that one does not assume that the moderator’s voice is endowed with godlike power. A human remains a human. Regardless of the conflict situation, there must always be a discussion at eye level. (No Power Imbalance here ;-))

    two sides of one coin

For me, a difference in power imbalance always means taking both sides into account and putting oneself in the other person’s position in order to do justice to the responsibility. Within this community, I am therefore looking forward to the perspective of active bottoms, among other things. I think that can be a particularly exciting perspective and discussion on the individual topics.

I am incredibly impressed with the depth of your writeup here. You seem incredibly well balanced and have thought this out fairly deeply.

Not being available 24/7 is obviously not required, and English doesn’t need to be your first language when you speak it this well, so neither of those are an issue. Being into other kinks is a positive in my mind, as you are well-rounded.

Let me just say, welcome to the team and let’s see how this goes!
