What are they attempting to achieve with those jammers exactly? There’s no way those drones are being remotely piloted that close to the target, are they hoping to jam GPS signals?

You’re right, but somewhere along the chain of command, someone thought this would work, and I’d like to know why they thought that.
It’s probably the same chain of command that issues airsoft body armor to frontline infantry.
