I’ll put a different spin on it that others responding here have: I agree that having this much money in our politics as a matter of course is a very bad thing. But at the same time, until we can change the system to prohibit that, the tactical, pragmatic, and correct choice (if you want to win elections) is to maliciously comply with the letter of the (flawed) law, with the ultimate goal of using it to attack and eliminate itself in the long run.

Also, let’s also keep things in perspective: in the specific context of “not letting the fascists win”: this article is reporting something good.

Reverse citizens united. Disallow direct campaign contributions. Disallow personal spending on political campaigning. Aggregate all federal political donations to a central fund, allocate exactly 1% of that fund to any candidate that has the support of at least 1% of donors for use in their campaigning. Spend the remainder on public service announcements about the date of the election, how to register, the roles and responsibilities of each office up for election, etc.

Agreed. But this can only be achieved in a world without capitalism

Get fascists out of government first, then we can talk.

Out of one side of their mouth they say get money out of politics, out of the other side they celebrate laundered money flowing into politics.

You can want to get money out of politics, and at the same time recognize it’s necessary to have a chance of winning.

Why is it necessary? The country is so polarized, it’s not like they’re trying to court new voters, people vote by party not the party politics. It’s not like they’re actually actively campaigning that’s costing billions of dollars.

          They are courting new voters.

There are 7% of voters who are Independants who are undecided. In the right spots that will swing an election to a win.

The voter outreach the DNC has voters conducting isnt the most persuasive. ‘Sit down shut up and do as you are told’ isn’t winning over anyone.

If Harris loses it will again be the fault of shitty DNC politics not being able to defeat a carnival barker.
