I have a MIG Switch and a few pirated games, though I’m afraid it will ban my account, including games I’ve bought.

I don’t use Switch anymore due to philosophical reasons, so it’s probably not a huge deal, but it would probably still piss me off, because I spent some money there.

Do you think it could be mitigated by resetting the switch to the factory settings and never logging in?

They don’t ban your account, they ban your switch. If your switch is caught, it won’t be able to use any Nintendo services ever again. But your account would still work on other devices.

So it will become a MIG switch only system, right? Also, how does one get caught? I’m not into online games in general, so I wouldn’t be playing any multiplayer games. Is the simple fact that the game’s certificate was used on multiple devices simultaneously enough to flag the device?

If you don’t want to risk getting a ban at all, the only safe thing is to not connect to the internet at all. Maybe there is some level of safety, but it could take only one mistake.

If we assume that we fully understand how nintendo catches this, we would still only ubderstand at that point in time. They could still change or push updates which could cause you a problem.

Yeah but the moment you connect it to the internet you’ll be banned because there’s a file inside the nand that saves if you’ve used unlicensed software.

The Nintendo ban only prevents you from accessing Nintendo servers so by disabling internet in your switch forever you are just basically banning yourself

Unless you need online multiplayer it doesn’t make much difference. I have my switch block Nintendo by DNS so its effectively me banning them instead of the other way around but if they did ban me I probably wouldn’t notice.

I don’t like the way Nintendo destroys people’s lives just because they “lost” a few dollars.

I mean, who doesn’t? But nah, I just don’t want to pay a company that does as much horrible stuff as Nintendo does. That pretty much means I own an expensive paperweight which I’m not a huge fan of as well. So I decided it’s gonna be a pirating only console.

I never said there was anything wrong with that, I have pirated multiple terabytes of various stuff including Nintendo games (though I play them on my Deck).

I was just explaining what your “philosophical” (🙄) reasons were.

Also you could just sell the switch if you don’t like Nintendo. Don’t pretend that you are forced to pirate or something.

Stop projecting, maybe? No, I’m not forced. But I want to, because I refuse to pay any more money to such a shitty company. I paid for the product, now I’m gonna use it the way I want to.

Price is not my reason for pirating. Seriously, people are different from you, stop assuming that everyone has the same motivation as you do.

              Sure dude.

I paid for the product, now I’m gonna use it the way I want to.

Well obviously you are too scared to do that, lol.

P.S. If you dislike Nintendo don’t buy their products in the future and just pirate on a PC

I pay for my content on basically every other platform. I have a hacked pirate switch because Nintendo’s business practices are particularly obnoxious.

Is it “justified”? Fuck if I care. But they’re the only games I don’t legally acquire, and it’s because they’re jackasses.

Personally I don’t give a shit about justifying my piracy. There are a lot of people in this sub that can’t do anything else.
