    Much of the toll climate change takes — from rising seas to lost homes — can’t be undone

    Wait, you’re telling me that cooling the planet won’t bring back destroyed homes? I don’t believe you.

    Also, the article doesn’t say anything about “saving us”. It just says existing damage can’t be undone. e.g. it won’t unmelt glaciers that took centuries to form. Duh.

    What’s the point of the article (based on the title) then? Should we just stop trying?

      Therefore, we cannot be confident that temperature decline after overshoot is achievable within the timescales expected today. Only rapid near-term emission reductions are effective in reducing climate risks.

      Oh boy. I don’t think you understand how bad it’s gonna be. It’s entire ecosystems that are being destroyed. You can’t just rebuild them. Some ecosystems like rainforests or coral reefs are a lot more sensitive to temperature fluctuations.
