I am a male and would like to periodically shave my pubic hair, specifically groin area. However, I have leg hair and some hair on my stomach which I don’t want to shave. Is there a way to shave my groin but not have it look weird with the harsh transition from shaved to hair?

I’ve actually considered that. My SO would think it’s ridiculous but I’d find it funny.

If you don’t have enough stomach hair for a visible arrow, minoxidil is your friend.

I had considered that but thank you for the confirmation. I normally use double sided safety razors so fading isn’t trivial.

The clear solution would be to give a trim to the general immediate area, a little bit of the stomach and thighs.

Though the transition won’t look that harsh, at least not unless you shave and go fuck 5 minutes later. The next day stubble will already make the looks mesh a little.

Good point about duration. I doubt I’d be shaving and fucking 5 minutes later. Most likely it would be a day or two gap at best.

      Hygiene?

There’s no advantages to less hair than more in that regard. To the contrary, there are minor disadvantages.

Just the possibility of ingrown hairs alone is more of a disadvantage than anything else. Like, shave or trim as you wish, it’s your body, but whoever/whatever told you that pubic hair is unhygienic lied to you. Trimming is definitely less of a problem than shaving in terms of the health of the area, but it isn’t completely without issues.

That being said, your technique is on point :)

Man, I hate to break this to you, but the idea that trimming or shaving reduces bacteria and fungi is malarkey. You can bathe like hell with anything but the heavy stuff used pre-surgery and you’ll still have bacteria and fungi all over your bare skin.

Since that skin is now irritated in comparison to untrimmed skin, that’s a higher chance for said microbes to get past the normal defense of the skin. Not a lot higher, but it is still higher.

Ingrown hairs do not require shaving to occur, though they are definitely less likely when the hair is trimmed not too closely rather than shaved. All it takes is the end of the hair digging into the skin a little. Not as common, but still happens.

Sweat sirt and oils also spend less time on the skin, and are just as easy to wash out of hair, and you’re less likely you have that stuff clogging up pores when it’s spread across the slightly greater surface area of the hairs as well as the skin.

Whether or not someone likes the smell of freshly washed pubes and is more or less willing to go down on someone based on the presence of pubes has nothing at all to do with hygiene at all, that’s a separate topic which comes down to preferences.

Hygiene is about the cleanliness and health of the body, not preferences. Again, anyone can do whatever they want regarding their own body, 100%. But you made a claim about hygiene, a claim that a lot of people echo that is pure myth, purely false, and it leads to other people taking that myth as fact when it isn’t.

You can go in the woods with or without trimming or shaving, that’s your choice. But in terms of health and cleanliness, pubes are less likely to cause problems than severely trimmed hair (slightly trimmed for aesthetics has no difference from leaving it wild).

Again, do what you want, it’s your body. I’ve already dropped other information to counter the claim of it being more hygienic, so we don’t need to continue if you don’t want to, no worries, no anger, no nothing. Even this comment is meant for other people coming along rather than as some kind of response to you as a person. They can freely verify which set of claims is accurate based on current best practices, they can even request information about where my info comes from.

Worth mentioning most partners I had preferred either completely shaven (like smooth to the touch) in the area above the shaft or a bit longer but trimmed and neat. The problem with no guard buzz in that area is it creates stubble that can be grating on the clit during women on top sex.

I use a buzzer with the smallest guard it comes with. It’s not what I would call “gradual” but it lessens the harsh transition.

I don’t think it looks that weird. I would say just shave the parts you want & trim the parts you want. Husband shaves balls but trims the rest, it’s fine except day-of (sharp stubble is rough) but he has finer textured hair. I (F) just shave everything down there because we haven’t had funds for waxing but my hair is more coarse so it’s an every day or two thing.

Basically I think even a kind of sudden transition won’t look silly, pubes are already a transition if you leave them alone, unless you really have a pelt.
