How do you post pictures or gifs? I keep getting errors for both. Now for some reason I can post the same pics in comments though

I found if you upload private to redgifs. You can then share the link.
Seems to be a general error. I get that error message all the time when some random part of the site breaks or temporarily stops working.
Admins/mods could we improve error messages for these instances to help creators share their work? Otherwise they will bounce off Lemmy without understanding why they’re happening.

I think it’s file size. I tried uploading photos and would get this error until I did lower sized photos and it worked
I found if you upload to redgifs as a pic, make private then share the link
