I don’t see FakeFactory on the credits page, though it wouldn’t surprise me if he changed his username after all the mockery he got for fully modeling Alyx’s internal reproductive organs.
Honestly, that guy had a great visual overhaul mod and nobody would have given them any crap for a genitals mod if they had simply separated the two.

Also, it was mediocre. The assets themselves were high-quality, but they didn’t make sense in the HL2 world, and the environment quality wasn’t increased to the same level, so it just looked weird.

Between paid commissions and putting downloads behind affiliate links (later replaced with Patreons), they were also a way for horny teenagers to make a lot of money. Porn and furries (and furry porn) apparently bring out the big spenders.
Did he create the models for his mod or were they imported from somewhere else?
Not excusing the fact that he included them but it would be slightly more forgivable if he used somebody else’s models and didn’t realize the amount of, uh, detail.
Given the nature of the mod, like the fact that it provided like 4 dozen varients of every character to select from, I’m guessing it was taken from another source. That said, it was likely also tweaked to work in the Source Engine, and to be closer to vanilla Alyx. Its unlikely he would have downloaded an apparently tame model, possibly modified it, and imported it without noticing it was a model intended for porn.

You know how sometimes you can get the camera to clip through a character model’s head and see how they have a fully modeled mouth and eyes inside? My understanding is that the Cinematic Mod in question did the same thing with one of its Alyx models, just with a fully modeled womb and ovaries and such. It was clearly meant for making porn, but got added to the mod anyway.
Though I only know of the FakeFactory stuff third-hand via hearing other people tell the story, so it’s possible things got exaggerated along the way.

With all the recent online public freak-outs involving people in the video game industry being near studio closing events, I feel like there is more to the story here that isn’t being published. Like there is history, context, ideology, or something else that is just completely sanitized from the article because it might make one side look worse.
Like watching a video of something but you don’t get to see any of the context of why that video is even happening, so it frames one side “better” than the other. That’s my gut feeling on this one.
