Google Chrome for Android can finally open PDF files on its own without needing a third-party app, and you can try this feature now.
Firefox supports it for quite a while lol
Firefox works fine for me so I’ll stick to it. Chrome will have annotation support for those that need it though.
Google also had a lightweight PDF reader decoupled from Google Drive but it looks like it’s no longer available: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.pdfviewer

If you need a lightweight pdf viewer with no frills, muPdf on Fdroid is perfectly cromulent
Y’all are so cynical around here geez.
Even my friend faridin will fuck Google chrome.
Wow! Amazing! My dreams have come true.
I will continue to never use chrome.
Fuck Google chrome.
Do really chrome on Android, up to this point, never had PDF support?
It just tries to use drive instead
Same reaction here… It shows that for mobile browser Mozilla is more serious about it. Maybe being installed by default and their hegemony on desktop make Google more complacent…
Android’s firefox PDF viewer is very laggy though
