The main thing to remember about Dalasin is that it’s made by horny alien scientists. They bioengineered the people to be double-good-looking so it would be their erotic playplanet.

It stands to reason that if the alien scientists created super-hot people with biotechnology, they’d also genetically enhance the rest of the biosphere. The alien engineers didn’t want people toiling too much; they wanted people shagging. However, there needs to be some work: you can’t roll in a hayloft with a farmgirl if there is no farming.

Breed genetics is the single most important thing in agriculture; on Terra, all the brassicas we eat today were genetically derived from wild mustard. Wheat was domesticated from much smaller naturally-occuring grain. Cows were half their current size 500 years ago. The alien engineers put agriculture on Dalasin on easy mode by providing great food-species.

Dalasin food is delicious – because the planet is a playground of all sensual pleasures, not just sexual.

The engineered flora and fauna enhance life under three categories:

  • Easy agriculture where the breeds have great characteristics
  • Plant-drugs better than anything on Terra
  • Funky monsters to add exotic beauty to the background (e.g. the cavewoman tribes in the deep interior need some dinosaurs to battle)

Tropical forest gardening

These women are not isolated in some remote jungle, they live on managed forest-farms that sell food to the cities. As well as tree-foods, these forests grow pigs, they grow shade-loving bushes (like Terra’s coffee, but Dalasin has a different stimulant drug I may post about later), and shade-loving vegetables like Terra’s tradescantia.

Do you know the breadfruit? Non-tropical Lemmy users might not. It’s a fruit that tastes like bread that grows in the tropics. Dalasin has a dozen different species of bread-fruits and they taste great and yield massively.

Terra’s only got one buttery, fatty fruit: the avocado. Dalasin has a bunch of fruits in that category. Imagine a red-fleshed avocado with berry flavours. Fruits are a bigger part of the diet on Dalasin than they are on Terra. Nuts are too.

All this favours a tree-based agriculture. The Brazil nut and cashews can yield massive amounts. Trees require less maintenance than grain-fields, leaving more leisure-time for these ladies… however are they going to keep themselves amused in all that spare time??
