Wait when did court systems provide justice? I thought they’ve always been a “polite” version of mob rule. (See: entire history of Spain, entire history of uk, entire history of Catholic church, history of new England, history of us / native American relations, history of us slavery, history of women’s suffrage, history of civil rights, history of abortion rights, history of gay rights, turing, history of trans rights - these are just the items in aware of)
Well, the point of the justice system was to make it so we didn’t have to apply mob rule ourselves. The system would apply consequences to bad actions. This was always going to be unequal, but it stopped functioning at all for the ultra-wealthy a while ago. Until it does again, it’s a sham and the protections they provided by giving an alternative are effectively gone. People need to see it working properly for all people for it to be trusted again and to protect everyone from vigilantism.
I’m looking for a single concrete fact that isn’t a questionable “back in the day” sentiment.
Also the mob rule I mention is the same as your definition of bad. Edited my post to add flavor.
