Mining is the one part of the game I don’t like. I’m ok with the RNG of fishing, animals, foraging, and cards. You’re still usually making progress even if you didn’t roll what you wanted.

But a lot of things rely on ores, and there isn’t a good way to mitigate bad rolls like other tools. Even the pickaxe barely helps, and that’s because you need one exact roll in most cases. Descending levels is at least possible outside of mining with a couple stones, but only barely.

Yeah, the rest of the game is pretty fun with managing resources and planning out your day, but the mines are rough. I think that’s the thing that usually causes us to loose.

Overall though it’s pretty fun co-op game.

I have this. It’s a super chill coop game. You have grampa’s goals, and then fish, harvest, make friends etc. I recommend it.

Chill is one way of putting it. The time limit is a hell of a crunch

I honestly agree. The game felt too random and had too much of a time crunch for me to call it chill. Also it took ages to play and set up

I love the video game, but the board game was very eh

Oh, wow. I had import the game to Germany by a specialised board game retailer… Took a few months and bucks.

It was $60. I don’t have any frame of reference for if that’s a good price or a ripoff. The box was WAY heavier then I thought. Pretty sure they ship this thing with some bricks or something.

What did it cost? Online prices seemed super high, even compared to bgg hits like dune uprising or the smaller gloomhaven.

$60. Is that high? I can’t tell anymore in an economy where a McDonalds cheeseburger costs more than my dad paid for his house…

It’s not! The only option I could find which would get me the game to Germany was 128€ (including shipping and tax). So around double, assuming that your price is without sales tax.

I bought it when it was new and still haven’t played it. My wife and I brought it out and took it apart once, but by the time we were done getting all the pieces ready, we didn’t feel like playing it anymore. I’m sure it’s a great game, but I don’t often want to familiarize myself with a bunch of little details when I’m just trying to play a quick, chill game with the family.

The box does clearly state play time of 45m per player, not sure why you’d ever think it’s quick

I didn’t. But if it takes 45 minutes to play, then it’ll take even longer to read and interpret the instructions, then play, and I haven’t wanted to do that yet.

I recommend watching a YouTube video together of how to play. Most are 10-15 minutes. I like reading the rules and teaching the game, but you’re adding a couple hours if you do that with this game.
