I work in IT as a sysadmin for a nonprofit, and there’s a lot of variety which makes it difficult to predict what a normal day will be like, but it keeps the days from feeling too repetitive. But I know that sort of unpredictability is not for everyone, and a lot of folks prefer a more routine experience.
Similarly, there are some IT jobs which require you to work on site, and others that allow you to be fully remote. Whichever is preferable will likewise vary from person to person.
Be open to new challenges, but also don’t feel like you need to compromise your priorities just for the income. And most importantly, be good at whatever you want to do, or else every day can be like sitting under the sword of Damocles.
