Summary

Colorado has become the second state to legalize psychedelic therapy, allowing psilocybin to be used for treating PTSD and depression.

Tensions have arisen in conservative areas like Colorado Springs, where restrictions on “healing centers” have been passed despite objections from veterans advocating for the therapy.

Veterans argue it provides crucial mental health support, though concerns over FDA approval and potential risks persist.

Psilocybin therapy will be tightly regulated, with licensed facilitators overseeing treatments.

Advocates see it as a vital alternative for those unresponsive to traditional treatments.

I’m so happy to see these types of therapy progressing! I don’t live in a legal state, but I connected with advocates years ago and found a local therapist who is supportive of these tools. I can’t say enough about how effective psilocybin and LSD have been in long-term relief from PTSD and depression symptoms.

I grew up in a home where substance abuse was a huge problem, and it left me with a drug stigma. It took me months after I procured LSD to work myself up to taking my first dose. Now, psilocybin is a regular part of my treatment regimen. It’s so, so helpful. I hope anyone who would benefit from psychedelic drugs has the option of pursuing this therapy.
