@bitofhope Many people don’t even realize there *are* alternatives.
I use LibreOffice at home and work, and the rest of people at work I think the one they’re using is called WPS Office. (They’re mutually compatible so the fact I use something different doesn’t matter much.)
Yet despite the many (mostly-compatible) options out there, people often don’t know of them. So pointing it out is … nagging?
🤷♀️
I guess they’re stuck if they don’t even want to hear about alternatives. C’est la vie.
Or don’t post asinine things? Just sayin’.
this user is just too smart for us, we’ve freed him from this sub so he can find people as on the ball as himself to talk to
Leading with “more people should consider these alternative options” would have sounded a lot less nagging and passive aggressive than “Or don’t use Microsoft products? Just sayin’”. I’m not just tone policing, those are actually completely different sentences. People who don’t know about the alternatives and read the latter don’t learn about LibreOffice or WPS Office, they learn that apparently someone hates them for wanting to make a spreadsheet or a slideshow or whatever.
If you just want to be mean and condescending to people for using Microsoft products, feel free, but I’d really prefer if people didn’t keep affirming negative stereotypes about free software users like myself.
it’s fucking magical how these weird fucks manage to be this aggressively arrogant about using libreoffice of all things. like, when your friends complain about how expensive streaming is do you sit there like 🙄🙄🙄 it’s not my fault you don’t want to hear about PBS
Contact the Slayer, a new hellmouth has opened. Wait…no…it’s just a link to 2007 Slashdot.
