Summary

Trump revoked Joe Biden’s access to classified intelligence briefings, citing Biden’s 2021 decision to cut off Trump’s access.

Trump framed the move as part of his campaign promise to target political opponents.

He also revoked security clearances for ex-officials and dismissed the U.S. archivist.

Biden previously justified barring Trump from briefings over national security concerns.

In a related matter, Trump dismissed Colleen Shogan as the archivist of the United States, White House aide Sergio Gor posted on X Friday night.

    time to really rewrite history.

the archivist is a pretty significant role, leading the national archives and records administration–what is supposed to be an independent agency of the federal government.

    among the archivist’s responsibilities:

    • preservation and documentation of government and historical records
    • administering public access to those records
    • responsible for maintaining and publishing the legally authentic and authoritative copies of acts of Congress, presidential directives, and federal regulations
    • transmits votes of the Electoral College to Congress
    • examines Electoral College and constitutional amendment ratification documents for prima facie legal sufficiency and an authenticating signature. the archivist is the one to certify that an amendment has been properly ratified.

Trump is almost entirely an idiot, but somehow is an expert on regex for some reason.

No, but the replacement archivist will almost certainly be an expert at replacement.
