President Donald Trump said Friday night that he was revoking the security clearance of former President Joe Biden, citing Biden’s “poor memory” and the fact that Biden had done the same to him.

Trump is really rescinding Biden’s security clearance out of spite, not because Biden is going gaga. But the argument is valid: Biden is going gaga and probably shouldn’t have access to sensitive material anymore. And by the same token, neither should Dubya.

So I’m not really outraged by this for a change.

No, it’s not that at all. The reasons former presidents retain their security clearance is to permit the current President to ask them for advice. Trump would never do that, because he is afraid people would see it as a sign of weakness.

Yes, and the advice of senile former presidents isn’t helpful. One tool in the White House is enough; we don’t need another one whispering in his ear. And anyway, as you said, Trump isn’t going to use any advice anyway.

Did Carter maintain security clearance until his death?

Did trump revoke clearance for any other former president?

He could have at least improved education during that time so I wouldn’t have to keep answering comments like this.

Biden’s actions force you to answer comments on Lemmy? That’s a new one. Ever consider just not answering comments like these?

Idiot. Biden is the best president of my lifetime. No response from you means dick if you don’t say what historical president of the united states did better. More so given the fucked situation he has from the folks who like to continually put the republicans in charge and then complain why no progress is made except for partially fixing their various fuck ups.

Just because it’s so easy for you to hold irrational hatreds doesn’t mean everyone else does it too.

If that’s what it actually happened, but it’s not.

And if your best comeback is, “no u!” Then you’re just proving my point.
