I just went in wefwef, updated it, and suddenly it said, “voyager is up to date!”

Since you managed to post this question here and not in the old wefwef community, how can you be unaware of the rebrand?

Interesting, there is still a wefwef community so I would have thought that was the first search result, but he said that he “closed” it when he rebranded, and I don’t know how Lemmy handles that.

So I guess a mod can lock and “archive” a community so it doesn’t appear in searches, but those that was already subscribed can see it?

But this link that goes to the post in that community still works.

He announced it some days ago in /c/wefwef: https://lemmy.world/post/1181356

If you have already installed the app as wefwef, I think you have to remove it and install it again to get the new name.

ah, I searched up wefwef in posts, not communities lol

in posts there’s literally no content from the wefwef community

Not when you have to go find them. Most apps share a quick update note upon updating but i didnt see one.

      Edit: Nvm, im dumb.

What do you mean, go and find them? You get notified with a badge in the settings icon. Click it, and it takes you to there is an update. That page tells your current version and immediately below that is the release notes button. You’re acting like it’s buried or you have to Google it. It’s literally in the same menu as the install update menu.

Piggybacking, do I need to uninstall the web app on iOS and recreate it or since it’s a web app, does it not matter?

I’m still getting the update app notis but name didn’t change or anything so just curious.

    (ELI5 please)

I deleted it and reinstalled again using the new domain.

You’ll need to delete it and reinstall to get the name changed and the new icon, but everything else should stay up to date afaik
