hi, im an admin for lemmynsfw and these past few days our team has implemented a much better and more comprehensive content policy that is more reflective of our values. we’ve been trying to dive deeper into our core ethos as a community these past few weeks, and we decided focusing consent as a key guiding principle would be helpful to lead us on a path overall where we want to be. we had a bit of backlash from some our refocusing as a community and some community meta drama, but it overall is going in a healthier direction.

lately though, ive been honestly kind of wondering pretty heavily if theres anything more that we should/could be doing to be fostering a healthier community. the most prevalent issue so far has been intense spam reporting of content creators, specifically in communities that allow them to post their links. mind you, there has been really no issue with spam amongst them and content creators (such as OF creators) have been putting links to their content in the post body. we made a pinned post informing people to knock it off, and we’ve had to sanction a few people for spam reports on the matter.

i do feel that taking a stance of welcoming content creators openly is a good position to take and will continue to stand by it. but overall, i am just curious what yalls thoughts on all this is, and just curious overall if our team is at this point just kind of pulling a modern Sisyphus and attempting to roll a forever falling boulder up a hill (metaphorically speaking) due to the inherent nature of the adult industry and all the things that come with it…

my apologies if this is not the right community to ask this/if its not really an appropriate question to ask for this community. feel free to delete! no hard feelings if it needs to be! i just kind of was wanting to have this conversation somewhere outside of lemmynsfw to get an outside perspective (as well as hopefully a womans perspective too)

This is the right place! I’ve linked this post outside of lemmy so I hope someone can give you some insights. Personally I can only say I would ask this to sex workers on reddit, while also asking them to join lemmy lol

That might be the best way to go. I think people are still quite averse to lemmy still though. :/
