Hi, I’m a reddit refuge. Not so active on that sub but learnt an awful lot thanks to the splendid people there who will hopefully migrate here. I’ve section hiked the GR10 and have now started on the AZT with a few other bits in-between. Always looking for lighter and more comfortable ways to travel.

Welcome! My experience is much the same — looking to travel safely and comfortably, and r/UL taught me a lot. When were you on the AZT? I did it NOBO in 2022. Isn’t it beautiful? What was your favorite day? OTOH I know nothing about the GR10, what is it like?

AZT: this year, 9 days between Oracle and Roosevelt. Cut short by the weather. I’m resuming next year for a further section, probably the sky islands. GR10 was awesome, from lowland hills to dramatic alpine scenery. Superb facilities, great people on the way.

Oracle to Roosevelt is a great section, I especially liked Martinez Canyon between the Gila and Picketpost. Did you stay in Superior? What sort of weather did you get? I managed to narrowly avoid an unseasonable ice storm near Miller Peak myself. The sky islands are my favorite part of the whole trail, tough climbs beautiful. I’ll have to look into the GR10!

Hello! I live near NYC, have hiked some long trails out west and like the idea of non-profit social media so here I am :) Anyone else new to lemmy and sort of stumbling around?
