The work of Jan Saudek is immediately recognizable. He combines photography with painting, often depicting nudes in dreamlike spaces. I think his art is both erotic and disturbing, and therefore utterly fascinating.

It’s hard to choose one picture from his enormous catalogue, but for some inexplicable reason I chose this one for today. I wonder what that tells about me.

    Young ladies admiring their nether parts in the mirror seems to be a common theme for erotic artists. I’ve got several examples in my stash., such as this one.

      Nice to know that you didn’t know him. You’re in for a treat! Saudek is really worth exploring.

      And yes, it’s probably a common theme, but I think there is more to this picture. I see a girl who is rather insecure instead of pleased with herself. She wants to be beautiful but is unsure about it. I am moved by her insecurity, and find her beautiful because of it.
